SAN DIEGO CHEMICAL PEEL

Learn About Chemical Peels

If you have skin issues such as fine lines, acne scars, blemishes or razor bumps, then there is one treatment you should consider. This treatment can help rejuvenate your skin. The skin treatment we’re talking about is a chemical peel.

Chemical peels are performed right at a dermatologist’s office. The procedures are completely safe, effective and affordable. Sure, you can buy various versions of chemical peels at places such as drug stores and beauty supply stores. However, going to a dermatologist is the best way to get the most benefits that chemical peels have to offer.

Peels can be deep peels, superficial or medium. The advantages vary from one type to the next and so does the risks. Most skin types are suitable for peels, but it’s important for the right peel to be chosen for the patient.

We know how to choose the treatment for our patients. In fact, we use various superficial peels. You can rest assure that the peels we use will help you get amazing results with very little downtime or even no downtime at all.

First, your skin will be cleansed and your hands and neck will also be clean thoroughly, if you will be getting them treated too. Sometimes the peeling agent will be left on your skin, but it may be removed. As for how long the procedure takes, it doesn’t take long at all, as it usually takes around 20 minutes.

The process usually starts 1-3 days. The process is completed within 5-7 days, and during this time, your skin will look flaky and dry. You want to continue using moisturizer during the week that follows your peel. These products can help mask the peeling process and they promote quicker healing.

You can get back to work after getting a peel. Peels can be done again after 2-4 weeks. One peel may not be enough, but the number of peels you’ll need to get depends on what your goals are and what kind of condition your skin is in.

Don’t use products that contain salicylic acid, retinoids or glycolic acid three days before your peel. Also, don’t use them one week after your peel. Furthermore, avoid wax treatments during this time period, as well as face scrubs.

Usually, one peel is enough to get results, but sometimes 3-6 treatments is needed. We offer various types of peels, which can help you fight off problems such as fine lines and sun damage. Some peels are designed to fight off both sun damage and acne. Those peels are made of salicylic acid or beta hydroxy, so make sure to ask your dermatologist of they can give you one of those peels.
